Windows Backup for Organizations reaches general availability
Initial DisclosureMicrosoft moved Windows Backup for Organizations to general availability as an opt-in enterprise backup service that is turned off by default. The feature can back up Windows settings, preferences, and Microsoft Store-installed apps on Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems, then restore them on Windows 11 PCs during device setup. The service was first announced in November 2024, was available in public preview since May 2025, becomes available on Entra joined devices after the September 2025 Windows Monthly Cumulative Update when an IT administrator enables backup and restore policy settings, and stores backed-up data in the Exchange Online cloud in the tenant-selected Country/Region.
