Google launches Private AI Compute with assessment findings
Initial DisclosureGoogle launched Private AI Compute, a cloud-based privacy-enhancing platform for Gemini cloud models that uses Trillium Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), Titanium Intelligence Enclaves (TIE), and an AMD-based hardware Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) to keep sensitive user data private and ephemeral. NCC Group also identified a timing-based side channel in the IP blinding relay component and three attestation issues that could lead to denial-of-service (DoS) conditions, and Google said it is working on mitigations.
