The breach began with a phishing attack against a university employee, which let the attackers reach fundraising- and alumni-related records. The exposed data included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and home and business addresses, while Princeton said the database did not contain passwords or financial information. Princeton also said it has blocked the attackers' access and believes the compromise did not spread to other systems.
