The US Department of Justice said five people pleaded guilty in a North Korean remote IT worker fraud and virtual currency heist case, widening criminal exposure for the facilitators and the victims tied to the scheme. The action also included civil forfeiture complaints over stolen cryptocurrency linked to APT38. The conduct affected more than 136 US organizations and compromised the identities of more than 18 US residents. The government said it seized $15m in Tether (USDT) tied to the operation.
