Google Quick Share now interoperates with Apple AirDrop, creating a new cross-platform file-sharing path that matters for users moving files between Android and iPhone ecosystems. The rollout is currently limited to the Pixel 10 lineup and supports iPhone, iPad, and macOS devices. Google says the channel uses a Rust-based security design and does not route data through a server, reducing exposure in transit. An independent assessment identified a CVSS 2.1 information-disclosure flaw that exposed image thumbnails and SHA256 hashes of phone numbers and email addresses, and Google has already addressed it.

Google announces Quick Share AirDrop interoperability
Initial DisclosureGoogle announced that Quick Share now interoperates with Apple AirDrop for Pixel 10 lineup devices, with support for iPhone, iPad, and macOS and plans to expand to additional Android devices. Google said the sharing channel uses a memory-safe Rust implementation, does not route data through a server, and that the related low-severity information-disclosure flaw affecting image thumbnails and SHA256 hashes of phone numbers and email addresses has since been addressed.
