SoundCloud confirms breach, limited user-data exposure
Initial DisclosureSoundCloud confirmed unauthorized activity involving an ancillary service dashboard and said attackers stole a database containing user information. The exposed data was limited to email addresses and information already visible on public SoundCloud profiles, with no sensitive financial or password data accessed. SoundCloud said it blocked unauthorized access, worked with third-party cybersecurity experts to improve monitoring, threat detection, identity and access controls, and related systems, and a configuration change during response temporarily disrupted VPN connectivity; later denial-of-service attacks also temporarily disabled web availability. A tip tied the intrusion to ShinyHunters extortion activity.
