DOJ announces guilty plea in access-credentials case
Initial DisclosureThe US Department of Justice announced that Feras Khalil Ahmad Albashiti, also known as Feras Bashiti, Firas Bashiti, and r1z, pleaded guilty in US court to fraud and related activity in connection with access credentials after selling unauthorized access to compromised enterprise networks belonging to at least 50 organizations. The case says the access was sold on an underground forum in May 2023, that Albashiti was arrested in Georgia and extradited to the US in July 2024, and that he is scheduled for sentencing on May 11.
