UK NCSC warns on Russian-aligned DDoS campaign
Initial DisclosureThe UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) issued a warning on 2026-01-19 about continued disruptive cyber attacks against UK organisations, with local government bodies and operators of critical national infrastructure remaining key targets. The alert said Russian-aligned hacktivist groups are attempting to disrupt operations, take websites offline, and disable services through DoS and DDoS attacks, and it urged organisations to review defences and strengthen cyber resilience. The NCSC also highlighted NoName057(16), active since March 2022, and noted that the group uses Telegram channels and GitHub-hosted DDoSia tooling to share tactics with supporters across UK, NATO, and other European targets.
