Initial DisclosureMimecast's State of Human Risk Report 2026 says internal cybersecurity risk has grown into a critical business threat, with employees mishandling or abusing AI tools widening the attack surface for both external and internal threats. The survey of 2,500 IT security and decision makers found that 42% of organizations reported more threats from malicious insiders and 42% reported more incidents caused by employee negligence, while leaders expect an average of six insider-driven threats a month and warn that AI can help insiders exfiltrate data at scale.
