    WhatsApp begins rolling out parent-managed accounts for pre-teens, giving parents and guardians control over who can contact the child and which groups the child can join. Managed accounts are limited to messaging and calling, exclude Meta AI, Channels, Status, and location sharing, and keep personal conversations end-to-end encrypted so parents cannot read chats or listen to calls. Setup requires both devices, verification of the child's phone number and age, a QR code link between the accounts, and a 6-digit PIN for changing privacy settings and activity alerts; the child can later move to a standard WhatsApp profile at age 13.
