Initial DisclosureOpenAI expanded Daybreak by releasing an improved GPT-5.5-Cyber model to trusted defenders, updating the Codex Security plugin to speed deep scans, triage, validation, and codebase-specific patch generation, and launching Patch the Planet with Trail of Bits to help secure open-source projects. The company said the model can sustain deeper analysis across large codebases to identify security issues, validate them in a controlled environment, and develop and test patches, while the Daybreak effort has already surfaced vulnerabilities and exploit proofs-of-concept across Linux Kernel, OpenBSD's kernel implementation of System V semaphores, FreeBSD, dnsmasq, Google Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine, Apple Safari, and Mozilla Firefox.
