Pindrop warns of widespread suspected deepfake incidents and multimillion-dollar losses
Initial DisclosurePindrop's 2026 Deepfake Readiness Index warned that 74% of surveyed US security leaders had encountered a suspected deepfake attack in the last 12 months, with one in four victims reporting over $1m in losses from a single incident and 49% reporting $500,000 losses. The report also said 93% of security leaders were concerned their organization was not prepared to face the threat, and recommended staff training, phishing-resistant controls such as MFA, and monitoring for suspicious communications and impersonation events.
