Agentic AI adoption in cyber defense is still limited, leaving most security teams in pilot or evaluation stages. Only 25% of cybersecurity teams are actively using the tools, which keeps operational control and trust concerns front and center. Teams that do deploy agents are using them for alert prioritization, blocking IP addresses, updating blacklists, and monitoring suspicious traffic. Spending expectations suggest the trend is still building, with over half anticipating a meaningful budget increase for further testing.

Flashpoint survey finds limited agentic AI adoption in cyber defense
Initial DisclosureFlashpoint's The Enterprise Threat Intelligence Report: 2026 says only 25% of cybersecurity teams are actively using agentic AI tools in their cyber defense strategy, while 20% are running closed pilots, 35% are evaluating adoption over the next 12 to 24 months, and 20% have no plans to test agentic AI. Teams that do deploy agents are using them for information retrieval, alert prioritization, blocking IP addresses, updating blacklists, and monitoring suspicious traffic, but concerns about data leakage, auditability, regulatory requirements, cost, and control remain a major barrier. More than half of respondents expect cybersecurity budgets to rise to support further investigation of agentic AI for defense.
