The Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is disrupted after KB5066835 installed on October 14, 2025 disables USB keyboards and mice inside recovery mode. The failure blocks navigation of recovery options and affects Windows 11 24H2, Windows 11 25H2, and Windows Server 2025. Microsoft says the devices still work normally in Windows itself and that a fix is in progress. Until then, Bluetooth or PS/2 input may be needed to reach WinRE.
