Microsoft confirms RemoteApp connection failures in Azure Virtual Desktop
Initial DisclosureMicrosoft confirmed RemoteApp connection failures on Windows 11 24H2/25H2 and Windows Server 2025 devices in Azure Virtual Desktop after the November 2025 KB5070311 non-security update or later, leaving full desktop sessions unaffected. The issue mainly affects enterprise users and does not affect Windows Home or Pro personal devices. Affected organizations can set the ShouldStartRailRPC registry value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\ShellPrograms\RdpShell.exe and restart the device, or deploy Known Issue Rollback through Group Policy in managed environments while Microsoft works on a permanent fix.
