Android 17 Beta 2 adds a new Android Advanced Protection Mode (AAPM) control that blocks non-accessibility apps from using the accessibility services API. The change hardens opted-in devices and reduces abuse of AccessibilityService by malicious apps that try to steal sensitive data. Verified accessibility tools such as screen readers and Braille-based access programs remain exempt.
