NCA and NFB warn construction sector about invoice fraud
Industry Or Public Sector UpdateThe UK National Crime Agency and the National Federation of Builders warned construction-sector accounts payable and finance staff about invoice fraud and business email compromise (BEC), advising them to verify supplier bank-detail changes, call genuine suppliers before transferring funds, check high-value payments with a colleague, and protect systems with password management, MFA, and up-to-date anti-malware. The warning cited Report Fraud figures showing almost £4m ($5.3m) lost in September 2025 across 83 cases and separate analysis that construction and manufacturing accounted for a quarter of invoice-fraud reports in 2024/25.
