Initial DisclosureCISA, NSA, FBI, DC3, and international partners released a joint cybersecurity advisory warning that Russian cyber threat actors are targeting vulnerable networking devices in critical infrastructure sectors worldwide, especially communications, defense industrial base, energy, financial services, government services and facilities, and healthcare and public health. The advisory says attackers abuse poorly configured routers and CVEs to gain unauthorized access, exfiltrate sensitive configurations, and facilitate malicious activity, and it recommends restricting access to management interfaces, strengthening authentication and encryption, securing weak internet-facing systems, and monitoring for suspicious activity.
